Real Estate Curb Appeal in Hunterdon – Without the Deer

When we moved to Hunterdon County, I was just entranced by all of the Deer. They were in the Meadows behind out house and all around Clinton. We would drive to the less inhabited areas to even look for them, especially in the spring. Those cute little babies!

I STILL love them – still look for them – it never gets old. But I have no use for them in my flower and shrub garden! There are two alternatives to getting along with them. I use them both. Every spring I plants several Hibiscus plants. I love them! So do the deer. So I buy that spray that smells like.. hmm.. things I don’t want to think of and spray at least once a week and always after a rain. It works!

I also look for deer resistant plants. Agaratum (pretty blue flowers), Peonies, and other shrubs that the deer don’t really like to eat. Rather than list many of the options, I thought I’d share my resource with you.  Rutgers compiled lists with input from landscaping professionals.  Their NJAES site is invaluable.

Enjoy and remember that when selling a home, you only have one chance to make a first impression!
